Monoprints

February 25, 2010

This afternoon we did some monoprints… I was a little leary at first, not sure how a project involving somewhat directed painting would go with a 5, 3 1/2, and 2 year old.  Much to my surprise, it went very well, and all 3 kids loved it!  If I wouldn’t have run out of white paper, I think they would have kept going.  Each piece looks different, and you really can’t mess it up, which is perfect for us!

*Materials*

foil

masking tape

tempera paint (I used washable Crayola)

foam paint brushes

Q-tips

.

*Directions*

Tape a space on the foil & paint inside:

Draw a design with a Q-tip:

Press a piece of white paper over the painted foil:

Carefully pull up the paper to reveal your “one of a kind” print!

Cute!! Very cute, actually. But, I’m confused. How old are your kids? 🙂

Haha! Sorry, I started this post LAST SUMMER and am just now posting it! But that’s how old they were when we did it, so it’s okay, right?

Of course, that makes sense. And, yes, it’s okay. 🙂
